Zona consigliata: Paddington è un’ottima base per visitare Londra, con collegamenti rapidi verso le principali attrazioni (Hyde Park, Oxford Street, Notting Hill) e facili spostamenti da/verso gli aeroporti.

Per prepararvi al meglio al viaggio, vi consiglio alcune guide e letture. Come guida pratica in italiano, le più utilizzate sono le collane Lonely Planet “Londra”, Rough Guides e Marco Polo, tutte con mappe dettagliate e suggerimenti di itinerari di 3–5 giorni. Se preferite qualcosa di più visivo, è ottima la DK Eyewitness “Londra”, ricca di fotografie e planimetrie dei monumenti. Se leggete in inglese, potete considerare “Time Out London” per consigli molto aggiornati su eventi, ristoranti e vita notturna. Per entrare nell’atmosfera londinese, vi suggerisco anche qualche lettura di narrativa ambientata in città, come i romanzi di Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes, perfetti per scoprire le strade vittoriane) o di Zadie Smith, che raccontano la Londra contemporanea nei suoi quartieri più multiculturali.
